PLEASE NOTE:  CONVOCATION SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 30 HAS BEEN CHANGED TO FEBRUARY 7.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR BEING THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS BY DEFEATING HENDRICKS DAY SCHOOL 23-13.  WAY TO GO, GIRLS!!!

“Japanese Days” will be celebrated this week during Activities period!!  Come to the cafeteria to join us!!!!  

Japanese Days Events:

Wednesday:  Come and watch our upper school students from Japan perform Martial Arts –Kendoo, Aikidoo and Juudoo.  From the throws of Aikidoo to the “soft or gentle way of Juudoo, you will see some incredible moves!
Thursday:      Come to experience the amazing Japanese art of paper-folding—origami.  Learn to fold into beautiful shapes.  You won’t believe what you can do with one sheet of paper!

At the beginning of February every year, the Japanese celebrate the "Bean Throwing Festival.”  This is Friday:  At the beginning of February every year, the Japanese celebrate the "Bean Throwing Festival.”  This is to drive the evil spirit away and beckon the good luck that year.  Usually the father or the oldest man in the family takes the role of a demon. Inside the house, the rest of the family members throw the beans at the demon, saying "Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi", which means "Evil is out, good luck is within."
So, come and throw beans to bring good luck!

Attention 7th and 8th Grade Boys:  Any boys interested in joining the weightlifting team, please meet in the weight room on the San Jose Campus at 4:00 pm on Monday, February 4th.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD PRACTICE:
Monday and Wednesday at Bartram, 4:00 to 5:30pm
Tuesday and Thursday at San Jose, 4:00 to 5:30pm
ALL BOYS AND GIRLS IN GRADES 6-8 ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, SEE COACH DENMARK.

LACROSSE: 8th grade begins Feb. 11 and will be every M,W,F.  7th grade begins Feb. 12 and will be every T,TH. Please have your physical on file or you can’t practice or play! Also, if you need a ticket to the Wounded Warrior Face Off Classic, please see Michael Haueisen or Coach Hoey for details.
