BOLLES LOWER SCHOOL
PONTE VEDRA BEACH CAMPUS
MAY 2008

Spring Testing
Testing will begin on May 5 and continue throughout the week. Students in Kindergarten will take the Metropolitan Readiness test, Second Graders take the Otis Lennon IQ test and students in Grades Three – Five take the Educational Records Bureau academic battery of tests. Classes will maintain a regular schedule during testing week. A timely arrival at school, a good night’s sleep, and breakfast are recommended.

TPC
The Players Championship is played the week of May 5. The access road adjacent to the School (owned and maintained by the PGA), which many of you use at dismissal time and for parking, will be closed to School traffic that week. Please adhere to lining up for dismissal at 3 p.m. and follow any directives from County deputies and Bolles Security. Traffic will be particularly heavy Thursday and Friday as charter buses use the access road to transport spectators to and from the tournament.

Fifth Grade Gift
A tradition begun by our first Fifth Grade class seven years ago continues this year, as Fifth Graders plan a gift to the Campus. To help raise funds for their gift, Fifth Graders will be selling parking spaces to the TPC Tournament on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12, for $20 per day. Passes may be pre-ordered by sending payment to the School. They will also be available Saturday and Sunday, but are limited. A Bake Sale will be held on Friday, May 2, with whole cakes available to parents at 8:30 a.m., and snacks available for the students at lunch. All student items are $.25. Please send money with your child this Friday.

Jay Fund
Your support of our last community service project was phenomenal. Many thanks, and look for the grand total to be posted soon.

Summer Review
Students entering Grades One – Five in the fall will have the opportunity to review Language Arts and Math Skills during the summer. The Language Arts review will consist of a student workbook which will be distributed to students the week of May 19. These are designed to be used 3 times a week for fifteen minutes.

Math Activates will be available weekly online! Important details regarding access to these grade level skills will be sent home the week of May 19 also.

Summer Programs
There are many summer programs scheduled on both the Ponte Vedra Beach Campus and the San Jose Campus. Early registration is advised as these fill rapidly.

Art Show
We remind you to join other families and friends for our Spring Art Show on May 1 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Second Graders will be performing their class play for parents and friends at 6 and 6:30 p.m. in the Music Room. This is a fun evening. Many thanks to our parent volunteers and Jeanette Edwards, art teacher, for making this possible.

Uniform Recycle Sale
Packets for the Prescribed Dress Uniform Recycle Sale will be available in the front office on Monday, May 12.  The packets contain all you need to tag/inventory your clothing for the sale. Only items that have been purchased through Sunshine School Uniform or that have a Bolles Logo (purchased through the Campus Store) will be accepted for the Uniform Recycle Sale.
