andrew mccabe headshotBolles graduate Andrew McCabe '86 was named Acting Director of the FBI in May after President Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey. In the absence of a Senate-confirmed Director, the Deputy Director automatically becomes Acting Director. McCabe will serve in this position until a successor is appointed and confirmed by the Senate.

McCabe graduated from Duke University then obtained a J.D. degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He spent about three years in a private law practice before joining the FBI in 1996 as a special agent with the New York Field Office. His 20-year career focused on investigating organized crime and counterterrorism. He was promoted to FBI deputy director in January 2016 where he oversaw the agency's international investigative and intelligence activities.

During his time at Bolles, McCabe won the Class 2A cross country individual state title in 1985 -- the only Bolles boys runner to win an individual cross country state title. McCabe also was a member of three straight team cross country titles between 1983-85.
