Environmental Club

2006-2007 club membership- over 30 active members from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
Activities:
• Began plastic recycling
• Education: posters, made up part of the recycle team to teach students how to recycle correctly and encourage participation,        convocation skit
• Preparation of recycle containers- placement, stenciled with an R, drilled holes in base for drainage
• Recycle crew- weekly collection of bottles around campus to a central receptacle
• Interview of staff in the bookstore, cafeteria, office, and faculty to determine what the campus is already doing that is Earth friendly.
• Article for the school newspaper on the recycling efforts
• Planning and participation in our first annual Earth Day celebration on campus

  • How do you feel about our school recycling program?
    • Awesome!
    • I feel good about it. It shows we care about the environment.
    • I think having the school recycle is really great! There is no reason we should be wasting those materials.
    • I feel that it is a good start.

    • Yes, my dad got a recycling bin and we are recycling now.

    • My sister and I have started my family recycling. We take out the bins every week.
